Scarlet Runner, then and now.
Scarlet Runner began in 2011 with a love of food, creativity, and the simple idea of making people feel something around a table.
Over the next ten years, it grew into more than I ever imagined. But somewhere along the way, I stopped creating and started surviving. So in 2021, I closed Scarlet Runner.
Now, I’m returning with the same curiosity and spirit it began with, but a different idea of success—one with more room for collaboration, creativity, and joy.
Coming back doesn’t feel like starting over. It feels more like coming home.
A name with roots.
Scarlet Runner is actually a bean.
Growing up, we had vegetable gardens, and my stepmom grew scarlet runner beans. She would build little teepees from long branches, and the vines would climb all the way up them, creating a canopy of green leaves and tiny red flowers. I remember sitting inside them as a kid—a tiny, magical world in the middle of the garden where I could hide and play.
Years later, when I was looking for a name for my business, Scarlet Runner came back to me. I wanted something different. Something memorable. At the time, I don’t think I thought much beyond that.
Looking at it now, I love that the name I chose all those years ago leads right back to the things that still matter most to me: being connected to the land, creating beautiful things, curiosity, play, and making a little room for magic.
